On Friday, April 16 the Shelton Mason County Chamber of Commerce held their Gala event at the Little Creek Convention Center.  Two hundred and fifty community members attended to recognize outstanding business and community members with Chamber Awards.  Skookum Rotarian and Chamber CEO Heidi McCutcheon was the host of the event and was recognized for her 10 years at the helm of the Chamber.  
 
Business of the Year - AAA Septic

Rookie of the Year - ISH PNW
Nonprofit of the Year - Crossroads Housing

Citizen of the Year - Don Welander, Skookum Rotarian and Shelton School District Career Connected Learning Director.  
 
For those that might not know, the Career Connected Learning Program provides for students in middle and high school to explore careers in high demand fields such as health care and green technologies.  The students prepare a plan to explore their field of interest via skill based classes and apprenticeships throughout high school providing them real world learning experiences. 
 
Don serves Skookum Rotary on a number of committees and is on the Skookum Rotary Club Foundation Board.  Congratulations Don!
